Description: Highly polished soapstone fisher, part of the
weasel family. The characteristic long tail of the fisher lies
draped around his muscular body, crouched as if intently waiting
to pounce. The fisher is a very adept creature that can move
more quickly through the boreal forest than his smaller cousin, the marten. The claws and
teeth of the fisher are carved from moose horn.

The color differences in the 2 pictures below are due to
slightly different lighting conditions (pictures are
untouched). The carving's colors appear to change as the
lighting changes
The artist, Jerome Thomas Ekinla,
used his experience as a trapper to put the fisher in a realistic
pose.
Size: 7" inches high (18cm) x 8" inches wide
(20cm). Copyright 2002, Jerome Thomas Ekinla, Northwest Territories' craftsman.
