Description: The Wolverine is known for its
ability to appear and then reappear great distances apart.
Dene beliefs are that the "Traveler" as it is often
called, possesses supernatural powers to accomplish this
transference. In actual fact, the Wolverine can travel up to 100
miles in one day, thus giving credence or proving the traditional
stories told about this denizen of the Great Northern Forests.
The carving is highly polished Serpentine (a harder stone than
most soapstone) and was carved from a large 28 lb piece. The
markings are etched into the stone to highlight the trademark
triangle shaped marking found on the back of all wolverines.
An interesting fact is that not all wolverines are black in nature
(with white markings). Some are brown or even slightly
orange in color.
Size: Wolverine is 12"x 8"x
4.5". The piece weighs approx. 20 lbs.
