Description: Inuit Legends combine man and animal, as in
this fine totem depicting a man riding on a 1/2 man half
animal. Made from caribou horn and intricately
detailed, this ornate and exquisite piece is very
eye-catching. The color in the horn leaves a pinkish hue, exactly
as depicted in the photographs. Artist: unkown Inuit
carver Location: Resolute Bay, Nunavut. Size:
6 inches (20 cm) x 1 inch (2.5) diameter (distance across the
middle). Note: This piece was obtained from a Canadian
Ranger who participated in a magnetic North Pole Expedition as
part of the 50th year anniversary of the Rangers, in 2002.
He returned with several fine pieces purchased in Resolute Bay. |
