Description: Elders are highly respected amongst
the Dene. "Itsu" is carved from a black serpentine
rock with a very nice polish. There are accents of green in
the darker black/green stone. Grandmother collects berries
in her birchbark berry basket while wearing the traditional scarfe.
The basket has an etched top (flowers) which comes off and reveals
a small container lined with moosehide (removable). The
lines and fine curvatures of the face make this carving very
lifelike. A great showpiece. Size: "Itsu"
is 6" high by 9" long by 6" wide. The piece weighs approx.
10 lbs.
